Autostart Journey Options

Modified on Wed, 27 Sep, 2023 at 1:54 PM

On the Autostart tab in Journey Edit dialog, you can define simple or complex Rules to control whether or not the Journey will start automatically, and if it does, whether it starts only once during the session or every time the Rule conditions are met.

The Rule definition procedures and options are identical to those described under Visibility Rules. Again, the dialog always displays the result of the Rule conditions.

Autostart Options

There are two different autostart options you can choose between:

1. Only once: If the Autostart Rules allow the Journey to start ("play") automatically, it will only do so only once during the user's session.

2. Always: If the Autostart Rules allow the Journey to start automatically, it will do so every time the end-user's interaction satisfies the Autostart Rule conditions.

If the autostart condition is set to Always, after the second time the journey will end or stop, a window will appear asking the user if he wants to stop the Journey autostart, as shown below. If the user clicks on Cancel button, the Journey will be started automatically again.

Testing Autostart from Editor

Journey designers can test Autostart in the Editor application using the menu option Editor > Journey Autostart:

If you stop the auto of a journey from the editor, you can make Autostart working again by clicking on Editor > Delete Page Cookies and Clean Newired Runtime Cache (image below).
