Segmentation and Analytics are essential tools for understanding user behavior and improving the effectiveness of a product or a service.
Segmentation is introduced and described in the articles explaining how to create and apply Segments:
Segmentation: Creating & Assigning Segments
Segments in Visibility/Autostart rules
Segmentation benefits in the scope of Analytics
Segmentation brings the option to see and analyze the actions made by end users, the launched and completed Journeys, completed Playbooks and given Feedbacks within each specific Segment.
By segmenting the user base, product managers can gain insights into how different groups of users are engaging with the target application.
The Analytics data for each Segment can be filtered on a time range level using period filtering - All time/Last year/Last month/Last week/Custom period with specified from/to dates. This allows the managers to focus on a specific time period and analyze how user behavior has changed over time.
Another important point is, that also failing and drop off journeys are included in the Segment Analytics data. It is visible when end users in a particular Segment are dropping off at a certain point in the Journey. With this information, it is easier to investigate the cause and make improvements.
Segmentation filtering in Analytics
In Newired Portal, in Analytics part of each site, users can find Segmentation filtering option which becomes available when Segments are used in the content of that specific site.
Segmentation filtering can be applied in all Analytics sections: Journeys, Playbooks, Feedbacks, Activity Feed and Page Views. If the user clicks the Segments dropdown, he has more options how to filter the Analytics data based on Segmentation:
- select "All" checkbox to see the data related to all Segments
- select more checkboxes to see the data for multiple Segments at once
- select only one checkbox to see the data only for that specific Segment
Click Apply button.
Example of multi-selection:
The Analytics data for the selected Segment can be also adjusted based on the time period:
When above mentioned filters are applied, the data displayed in the whole Analytics will correspond to that specific selection:
- Journeys: data in all parts of Journey Analytics main page as well as in the Journey detail section
- Playbooks: data in all parts of Playbook Analytics main page as well as in the Playbook detail section
- Feedbacks: data in all parts of Feedback Analytics as well as in the Feedback detail section for the selected Journey
- Activity Feed: data for all selected Activity types
If the "Show deleted content" checkbox is checked, a user will be able to see also the Analytics data related to the content which has been already removed (for example a deleted Journey, which was belonging to that specific Segment).
In case that no Segments are created for that specific Site, the Segment based filtering is not visible in the Analytics section.
