Additional Pre-requisites
For all supported operating systems, you will need to obtain the physical (MAC) address of the target computer and provide it to Newired to obtain a license prior to installation.
On supported Linux systems, if PostgreSQL is already installed, you will need to provide information on the connection during the installation process.
- Obtaining MAC addresses
WINDOWS
1. Follow Open the Windows Command Prompt (CMD)
2. Type: ipconfig / all
The result should be similar to, where the MAC address is highlighted in red:
Please note:
If the server has multiple interfaces, please use the first one available. The use of WiFi MAC addresses is possible, but not optimal.
Do not use MAC addresses of virtual interfaces.
LINUX
2. Type:ipaddr
PostgreSQL Database Connection Information
There cannot be two installations of PostgreSQL on one Linux server. If PostgreSQL is already installed on the target computer, the installation script automatically skips the installation of PostgreSQL and creates only necessary database schemas for the existing database.
You will need to specify the correct connection information for the existing PostgreSQL instance during the installation process. Be sure you have the information at hand before beginning the installation process.
Deployment Requirements
The end requirement to deploy (publish) the guidance content created for Newired is a running web server accessible to end-users of the target web application. It could be the same web server used by the target application. For example, if the guidance content is for users of the company’s web-based CRM software, you can need to deploy the content on the same web server which hosts the CRM. You can also upload all Newired content on a dedicated web server but such a server needs to be reachable from the target application.
